Announcing HeyDrDan.com
(A new way to get more Dr. Dan in your life)
I just launched HeyDrDan.com, which is a library of in-depth, practical guides. I’m launching with over 20,000 words of writing across three different guides, each helping you solve a specific problem. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think.
These are the guides I’ve currently written, with more coming soon:
All three are personally written by me, and I think they’re some of my best work. The first two are free; the third one is paid but has “Pay it forward” coupons that allow folks with financial need to get it at up to a 90% off discount by promising to do a good deed for someone else.
For folks that want to support me, I’ve also rolled out a membership; for $10/mo you can help me free up time to make more guides and helpful videos, and you can also share ideas and suggestions for new topics for me to tackle.
What about Substack?
I want to have a direct line to the audience I’ve built on social media, rather than relying on the whims of the algorithm to determine if they see something I make. So I considered encouraging all of my social media followers to subscribe to my Substack.
However, I’ve noticed a split between the writing I do on Substack and the videos I put out on social media. My social media videos are focused on sharing practical tips and encouragement; my Substack writing is more contemplative and vulnerable.
I really love writing about life lessons from my Grandpa, or what I learned from a dream about Stephen Colbert. But someone who just watched a video of me teaching them a quick burnout tip would be understandably confused if they clicked the link in my bio and ended up here.
So, I decided to split things out. I will continue to post my contemplative essays here, and I hope you continue to read them. (I will also keep crossposting my social media videos on Substack Notes.)
I will use HeyDrDan.com as the hub for in-depth practical guides and future in-depth projects, like potential video courses. That’s also where I chose to put the option to financially support me; a few people have pledged to subscribe here on Substack, and if you’re one of them you might be curious to see if the membership is right for you.
HeyDrDan.com will also be the best way to stay up to date with my latest work and to support me. If you’re subscribed here on Substack, you’ll very rarely hear from me unless I publish a new essay. But if you’re subscribed over at HeyDrDan, you’ll get more frequent updates about the latest stuff I release or am working on (although I will still respect your inbox.)
Of course, if you haven’t subscribed to me on Substack and you want access to my most introspective writing, you can do that now:
Looking ahead to the future
I’ve done a tremendous amount of writing over the past month to get HeyDrDan.com ready. While I don’t plan to keep up that same pace indefinitely, I do feel like I’ve hit my stride creatively, and I’m excited about publishing more work soon. So - stay tuned! More Dr. Dan is coming soon :)
